A new blog

As I have written before I have been thinking about quitting this blog for a while. I think that is what happend today when I set up my new blog at http://maria.hagglof.info. It will be written in swedish and will mostly be about things related to media and webb somehow, with a personal touch. And for you who cares about technical details my new blog is of course set up with WordPress 3.0.

Sweden Social Web Camp

If you look a bit to the right, there is a little badge about Sweden Social Webcamp.

SSWC is a camp for people who love the Internet more or less. It all started last year with SSWC09. I would’ve loved to be there but my brother turned 30 and I couldn’t let him down so I went to Helsingborg, while the rest of Helsingborg (at least the Helsingborg I know of) went to Tjärö. A little island in the south of Sweden where over 250 swedish web geeks had gathered up with tents among the sheeps for an unconference that has become the most talked about among swedes on the social web. The week after I listed my favorite blog posts about SSWC09. When reading about the weekend it felt like it was magic and I knew that I just had to go there next year. So… Today at 19.00 the tickets for SSWC10 was released and since I had set the alarm at both my google calendar and my iPhone I was on my toes for a ticket. My Twitterfeed was filled with people being on their toes as well, a monday evening has never had that much activity on Twitter before. And you know what? I got a ticket! 600 geeks had registered their interest for the camp and 250 tickets were released. So tonight I am a really happy geek :)

See you in august geeks and tweeps!

Food variation

Sofia Mirjamsdotter aka Mymlan has in her blog Mymlan. the real. a weekly blog topic for her readers to blog about. Actually I have never participated in the weekly blogging on Mymlan’s subject. I have blamed it on lack of time or other silly reasons. This week her topic enticed me to write something down though. The topic is actually food. The food we eat on weekdays. My fantasy in the kitchen is terrible which results in lack of variation. So if I will find one or two recipes – in Mymlan’s summation by the end of the week – that I like, I will be happy.  But if I expect to get something, I need to share something as well. So from my own recipe book (the book inside my head) comes a favorite which I have given the name Maria’s tortilla box.

I’ll write the recipe both in English and Swedish since Mymlan’s weekly blog topic tradition is a Swedish thing.

Maria’s tortilla box (4 port.)

Boil the rice. Mix it together with the rest of the ingredients except the cheese in a bowl. Pour everything into a baking pan and sprinkle with cheese. Gratinate it in your oven until the cheese has got a nice color.

Done within 30 minutes!

Oh and btw, I do not know how it tastes if you do it with dip mixes with other flavors. I haven’t dared to try. But if you do, tell me!

Marias tortillalåda (4 port.)

Koka riset.

Week fourteen 2010

This week was a four days week at work, a week that has been pretty calm since we haven’t recorded any shows at my internship with 30minuter. Instead we have had an election special week with shows that we made two weeks ago at the mall Hageby Centrum. The most interesting conversation this week was about transparency in small towns, a subject we discussed for a whole day, which lead to a blog post at någotsmart. The same evening I made a little page (in swedish) about an idea I had talked to @jimmyasklund about before. A tweetup at the zoo in Kolmården. Weirdly enough I got response from more people that I don’t know than from people that I do know at Twitter.

Evenings and today I have spent on trying to prepare for the presentation of my examination project and the opposition of Sanna‘s project aswell as the seminar I will give at Hela Kyrkans hemsida next saturday. I am getting a bit nervous for that seminar since seminars actually aren’t that common on my agenda. The presentation of the examination project feels like nothing in comparison.

Tomorrow I will visit my mothers work to get some physiotherapy in their warm water filled swimming pool. It’s a part of the recovery after the broken bones.

I won, you lost

With that cocky title, I would like to tell you that I won the competition at Skyltat.se.

A lot of things have happened during the contest. My entry went up in the lead pretty fast after it was published. After a few days it got so many visitors that Skyltat was brought down by their web hosting provider. Later on, my classmate Lorraine and I realized that we were ranked as number one and two in the contest. We fought hard to get our friends to vote for our entries which was a really fun part of the contest. Although, the latest week I have been the number one by far but then some days ago a new opponent showed up and came closer.

The night before the competition was going to end my top entry got voted down from 8,9 to 7,4 just over the night. I understood that someone was using methods that weren’t allowed and I was about to give up. Then I saw that the precursor of the outvoted entry had suddenly made it to the second place so I posted the link to it on Facebook and Twitter and told my friends and followers that I was a victim of cheating. People was sympathizing with me and even though it was really close I passed the leader a few hours before the contest was over.

I would now like to thank you all for voting in this competition. I am soon a proud owner of a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and what is gonna happen with that phone is still a little secret.

If my cute neighbours for some reason would happen to read this I would also like to thank them, without their love story I would never have been a part of this contest.

My entry - the love story about my neighbours.

I’m fighting

I am in the lead in the competition at skyltat.se with the notice that was put up in the house where I live. Although I am closely followed by my classmate Lorraine and her Original Gangsta shit and now she has decided to try to beat me. That’s why I need your help. Vote ten stars for my entry and I will hopefully win a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. If I am still in the lead at December 4th I will win the cellphone. So vote for me please!

Love in the house

To bad I am not involved. But some of my neighbours are.

I thought this story (swedish) was kinda funny so I sent it to Skyltat.se. Feel free to vote for it or push it. There is a sequel to the story, so keep your eyes open.

I am listening to one of Markus Krunegårds new albums. Lev som en gris dö som en hund. The sixth track on the album called Benny makes me think about old times in Norrköping. Benny was from the same hood as me. Even though he was drunk or high on drugs every time I met him during the final years of his life, he was one of the nicest guys I knew when I grew up. And it was just as Krunegård is singing, Benny wanted to live in freedom. There should be more people like Benny, he was never mean to anyone. It’s always sad when people like Benny are leaving us but I am happy to have known him.

When I am thinking of Benny I also feel happy, he always made people around him happy. I think about all the other guys who lived in the neighbourhood, those who were his closest friends. Some of them were my closest friends when I was even younger. Nice guys with a bit different plans for their future than me. Different but still alike.
