John/Subbass – Thank you for all the graphical stuff you make. You really have skills man!
Martin/Muhko – Thank you for always making me laugh, even when I am down. I miss you really.

To the friend I have left in Sundsvall

Martin – Even though you only call me when you are drunk nowadays, you are one of the kindest persons I know. You were always there to help me when I called. I am happy to have got to know you and Simon. Call me next time Timrå IK is in Stockholm.

I took a few tears to write this post… But that just confirms it for me. I love you all!

December 2009

Phew, time for the very last blog post in this summary of 2009. It’s been boring, probably even more boring for you. Next year I’ll do it in another format. Promise.

Life in General:

December was a month I don’t want to experience again. Some days I was frustrated and angry, some days I was sad, some days I was happy but I don’t remember those days…

Friends:

I celebrated minichristmas at Pernilla’s, Stefan’s and Alice’s house together with Anna, Andreas and Tobias. We ate good food (not Christmas food) and had a nice evening together. One week later I celebrated New Years Eve in the same house with the same people, plus Jenny. A nice evening as always with my friends in Linköping.

Family:

The 28th of December was the last time I met my grandfather Bernth on this earth. He slept while I was there but when I was about to leave and realised that I had forgot to say good bye I ran back to his bed, grabbed his hand and said “Good bye grandpa”.

My family tried to celebrate Christmas as we always do, but it wasn’t like any other year. After spending the whole day by my grandfathers bed we went home in the evening. But we were all thinking of the only one who weren’t with us when we ate the Christmas food and handed out the gifts. It was all done in about two hours.

Personal:

I wrote a blog post about how I felt about living a journalist life.

LiA:

Interviews, interviews, interviews.. and a lot of writing in vain.

Work:

I worked at Lagos Mode one day in December, or not even one days, I think I worked for about three hours. It was the first day on the sale, the 26th of December.

Social Media:

I won the autumn competition at skyltat.se and got a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music which my brother is the happy owner of today.

I had a down period in this blog and just published five blog posts. I was probably out of words…

Trips:

I made one weekend-trip to Östergötland in the beginning of the month but the day before Christmas Eve I went there and stayed for the rest of the month.

Technology:

I bought my lovely iPhone 3GS 32 GB. Probably the best thing I have ever bought.

Film:

I actually got 6 movies from Marcus and CC for Christmas. The Lord of the rings trilogy and the Beck 21-24 box.

Mobile shot:

Photo:

I forgot my camera at home when I went to Östergötland for Christmas and I hate myself for that. No photo of the month. I suck.

October 2009

Life in General:

A lot of things happened in October, I was full booked the entire month and was barely at home. Therefore I ended the month with an All Saint’s weekend all by myself.

Friends:

The month started with a visit by Martin in the middle of the night. I hadn’t seen him for over 4 years so the day after I was really tired. The same week I was at a party hosted by a friend of Lorraine, along with her,  Sanna and some new acquaintances of mine.  One week later it was time for a cruise to Finland with my classmates which we called #knm08ombord. It was crazy, just as I had feared.

In the middle of the month I went to Linköping to have lunch with Pernilla and Alice before we joined up with Stefan and Tobias for a dinner at Doverud’s.  One week later I was back in their house when we celebrated Stefan’s and Anna’s birthdays.

Family:

It was my dad‘s birthday and even though it wasn’t an even number both me, my brother and my sister-in-law was at our parents house. During the stay we also went to the annually running competition Höstmilen and ended up in the local newspaper.

Personal:

In October I revealed my most geeky interest. Of course I also celebrated the International Teddy Bear Day ;)

School:

We finished our dementia project, had a successful pitch for an impressed customer. Later in October I had the last day in school for the year.

LiA:

I started my internship period with being sick and stayed at home for two days. But the rest of the month I only enjoyed my time at Tredje Statsmakten.

Social Media:

My internship was all about social media. I did social media research, social media strategies and used social media a lot on the behalf of Medierna.

I was also at a lunch together with Stockholm Social Media Club for the first time.

Trips:

Two trips to Östergötland was made in October and also a cruise to Finland with my classmates.

Sports:

I tried to get back on track with the training but failed because of chest pain.

Music:

Markus Krunegård released two albums and I couldn’t stop listen to the Benny song.

I also wrote a blog post about my interest in music.

Mobile shot:

Marcus, CC and I went to the newly opened waffle cafe in Norrköping. This is what I ordered:

September 2009

Life in General:

Now when it’s really cold outside it’s all forgotten that we had an indian summer in September. The weather was lovely and made us swedes in a happy mood :)

Friends:

Lorraine, Stephanie, Susanna and I had a little party at Susanna’s place before we went to Lemon Bar where we met up with Hanna and Malin. The night ended with a little walk in the “early morning” together with Lorraine before we went home.

Family:

I went home to my family to attend a funeral together with them. Even though Bosse weren’t a family member he has always felt like one and it felt like a matter of course to be there.

Personal:

I started to write on the series of personal blog posts about my interests. I didn’t finish this project though and since I hate to start with projects and not finish them I hope that I will get time to write the rest of the posts this year.

School:

In school almost everything was about the dementia project but we also had some nice lectures and workshops with among others Björn Falkevik and Joakim Nyström.

LiA:

In September my hunt for an internship in social media got a result when I got my internship at Tredje Statsmakten Media who are producing Medierna in Sveriges Radio.

Social Media:

I read a lot of blog posts during September and I even had time to blog about some of them that I really liked, I blogged about Brit Stakston and about Kristoffer Björkman. The big discussion in the social media bubble this month which started already in August was about the pointless babble and even I wrote a blog post about it which I don’t feel ashamed about yet ;)

In my own blog I tried to write about my interests as I mentioned above. The blog also got a little revamp with new plugins and widgets.

I also got my second internship period through Twitter.

Trips:

There was only one trip made during September and that was to my home county Östergötland.

Technology:

Andreas Ekström announced the “no Google day” at the 1st of September. Something he failed upon already 7am but Google failed aswell when Google mail crashed in the evening.

Music:

I made a list of 100 tunes from the 00-decade which I realized was to early when Markus Krunegård released a new album with the song Benny. Although I have listened a lot to my list so I am happy that I made it.

TV:

I watched the TV-series Signé Chanel (Fashion House Chanel) in September and I loved it. Within an episode of 26 minutes I laughed, was annoyed and felt sorry together with the participants.

Mobile shot:

This is what happens if you give me a banana cause I don't eat bananas.

This is what happens if you give me a banana cause I don't eat bananas.

Photo:

When I am browsing through my photos I can’t find any photo from September. Can it really be true? No photo of the month? I don’t use my camera often enough…

August 2009

Life in General:

In august I went back home to Stockholm and felt really good about it.

Friends:

Susanna visited me in Norrköping. Together we visited Makkarakauppa and Kolmårdens Zoo and ate Greek food. I also spent some time with my friends in Linköping and in the end of the month we had a crayfish party at Tobias summer cottage.

Family:

My brother Marcus turned 30 and we celebrated him at his and CC‘s new apartment in Helsingborg.

Personal:

I wrote this personal blogpost about my mum

School:

School started again after 10 weeks of summer holiday. The first day we met our customer for the live project about dementia that we were going to start working with.

LiA:

I started to hunt for a place where I could do my second internship. The hunt took place mostly at Twitter and in my blog.

Work:

I worked first half of the month and ended the summer period at work and ended with a bit of golf playing and socializing in the forest with my colleagues. That was also the end for my summer blog.

Social Media:

I became even more twitter active and used social media to promote myself for another internship period. And as mentioned above I also ended the summer blog I had at work.

February 2009

Life in general:

In February I cut and dyed my hair at Peggis Barbershop in Norrköping. Something that was really well needed.

In the beginning of the month I visited Daniel & Emma to play some boardgames with them and Stefan & Pernilla to see their new house.

I also was at the Resumébar with some classmates to hang around with our future colleagues.

In the end of the month I visited Frida, Jimmy and their daughters but I also made a second visit at Stefan and Pernillas place where I also met Anna, Andreas, Tobias and Björn. Björn had also brought his girlfriend Josefin for the first time, a really nice girl who I’ve got to know during the year.

Family:

I visited my family in Norrköping twice this month. My parents in their house, my grandfather at the recovery clinic and my grandmother in her apartment.

Personal:

In February I published a personal poem for the first time ever.

School:

I was at Café Sturekatten to write a report for school. While I was there I ran into the Swedish pop singer Robyn.

Technology:

I bought a Saitek Eclipse keyboard.

Boardgames:

A boardgame evening with my neighbours was announced so I brought Ticket to ride and went there, even though I usually don’t go to places where I don’t know anyone. They weren’t boardgame geeks like me but I had pretty fun anyway. I played against three guys and won :)

Music:

I listened to my old friend Gustaf Spetz at Mosebacke and bought his new album. I really like to listen to it from time to time, not only because he is my friend, he is also a great musician.

In February my camera died so I can’t say that I have any photo of the month :(

In memoriam

My grandfather Bernth died this morning. After almost 92 years he fell asleep peacefully for the last time today.

My grandfather was a man who enjoyed life most of the time. He loved children and as his grandchild I couldn’t have gotten a better grandfather. My brother and I were the apples of his eye. Even when he became older and infirm, when he met children, his eyes really shone and he was playing with them as best as he could. He used to lark about with adults as well as children and he was full of great stories. If it wasn’t stories from his life as a milk machine fitter at farms all over the country, it was made up stories he had learned as a child about trolls and giants around the Örebro area where he grew up. I have spent many days in my grandmother’s and grandfather’s garden, where we played soccer or crocket together, times which are great memories for me. During his life my grandfather spread a lot of joy and laughter around him. He also had a very big heart, he always cared about people around him and wished them prosperity.

Even though he was very weak and mostly slept the last two weeks of his life, he wanted and tried to hug my brother and me less than a week ago when we visited him. He really loved us and we loved him.

Since he believed in God all his life, I think he is better off where he is now.

Thank you

It’s been some time since my last post. There are more than one reason for that but a lot of things have happened during the past weeks. For example I have bought an iPhone. I have had it for a week today and I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever bought. I have also had my last days at Tredje Statsmakten and Mentor. My last internship week were very hectic but I enjoyed my time anyway.

The Christmas holiday has been hard times for my family. That’s why I haven’t written until now. We haven’t prioritized things like blogs or Christmas gifts this year. I haven’t even sent as many Christmas greetings as I would’ve wanted to. Not even in my blog. At least I feel that I should’ve wished my blog readers a merry Christmas. I am sorry for that.

But as the topic says I would now like to thank you. Thank you all for the Christmas greetings, the Christmas gifts and the kind words. Thanks for all the warm greetings to the family. Thanks to all my tweeps for caring even though you don’t know my family. I love you all.

Living the journalist life

As I have written before I am currently doing my internship at Tredje Statsmakten who are producing Medierna in Swedish Radio P1 and at the fashion industry magazine Habit. Two different companies which are both working with journalism. But I am no journalist and sometimes I ask myself what I am doing at these places but the more I think of it the more it makes sense.

At Tredje Statsmakten, I work mostly with managing their social media feeds, helping them to develop interaction on their webpages and writing texts for the Web. Although I am not doing much journalistic work there, I am a part of their journalism and I do like it. I like to listen to their discussions and I like to be a part of the interesting programs they produce every week. I’m among really great and inspiring journalists and I really enjoy it.

At Habit I am working as a journalist. I am writing a few fairly (at least for me) big articles and even though I did my first internship there, it feels like a challenge, mostly because I haven’t written that much in my life, but also because I know that my co-workers at Habit are much more skilled and experienced than me. But I really like to be there as well. I enjoy the work I am doing and I like my co-workers who are good role models as well as good and inspiring writers.

Since Tredje Statsmakten and Habit have two very different editorial staffs it sometimes feels like I am living in two different worlds of journalism. But I must say that I love it. I like both places very much and it gives me a good balance to write about media criticism one day and about fashion the day after. I also get a healthy distance to both of these worlds.

So, why do I hang around with all these journalists?
For a while I thought I had lost myself a bit when I had driven my boat so much against the journalistic direction, because journalist has never been my final goal. But if I rewind the tape almost two years back to when I applied for my current education, I had one thing in mind. I wanted to become a better writer. I had applied for a lot of web editor jobs and been to a lot of interviews, but every time I was asked if I was a good writer I had no proof which showed that I could write. I thought that I was an OK writer but since I never ever had got my own texts critically reviewed, I knew that my words were not so heavily weighed. So, working with journalism now when I have the chance feels like the right thing to do. While I am gathering evidence for the future, I develop my writing and get useful experience. If I will work as a journalist in the future is yet to see but I think that I am about to eliminate the risks of being rejected as a not good enough writer for any other type of job. I mean, if I have got my texts published in a magazine, I shouldn’t suck anyway.
